Chris joined the Public Affairs team at Cratus in Autumn 2020 and brings a wealth of experience from serving as an elected Councillor since 2003 and becoming Leader of Brentwood Borough Council in May 2019.
During his time in Local Government, Chris has held responsibility for all the key Local Council portfolios including Planning, Environmental Services, Housing, Finance, Policy and Economic Development. His real passion is Local Government and Communities,and he is a hands-on Leader that shows a keen and probing interest in all areas of Local Government. Chris played a proactive role during the Covid-19 pandemic of 2020 when coordinating efforts between the Council, various agencies and community groups and is also directly involved in anticipated Local Government Reform plans for Essex.
Whilst serving in Local Government, Chris also maintained a full time ‘parallel career’ in the Motor Industry working as a consultant for some of the biggest automotive brands such a Ford, Mercedes-Benz and VW, focussing on business development and change management. Chris also serves on the Thames Estuary Growth Board, is Vice Chairman of the Association of South Essex Local Authorities (ASELA) where he is the lead for communications. He sits on the Board for Opportunity South Essex (OSE), is member of the Police Fire & Crime Panel for Essex, scrutinising the work of the Commissioner and also Chairs Brentwood’s Community Safety Partnership. Chris also holds a degree in Engineering Management.
