The LPDF was formed in 2018 to speak on behalf of the land promotion industry and Cratus has been working with them since their inception. From starting out, Cratus has supported the LPDF in seeking to influence the national and local planning agenda. Our goal has been to help represent land promoters as a distinct and crucial part of the planning process who often bring land forward through the planning system at great risk to help increase the supply of new homes. With our help, the LPDF is seeking to amplify the sector’s worth in tackling the housing crisis and is doing this through strategic communications, thought leadership and local and national political engagement.

To date, the LPDF have met with senior civil servants at MHCLG, the CCN, Peers and MPs, and have given evidence to the MHCLG Committee’s inquiry into land value capture and the Oliver Letwin review of build out rates. Cratus also organised a panel event at the LGA Annual Conference 2019 in Bournemouth and secured the LPDF as panellists at the District Councils Network conference. We facilitated meetings with Lord Shipley, Andrew Lewer MP, the Infrastructure Projects Authority, Homes England as well as groups such as Shelter and the CPRE. Just two years on, the LPDF is now a collection of the UK’s leading land promotion and development businesses, with 23 full members and over 40 affiliates who have all come together to speak with one voice in the debate on housing and infrastructure delivery. The LPDF continues to enhance this debate and prove the worth of land promoters in providing new, sustainable homes and communities.
